Featured Vendor - Island Girl Bags
These are a few of my favorites:
Q&A with MaryBeth from Island Girl Bags:
What inspired you to start your business?
My girlfriend and I were wondering around some craft shows one year and we both said that we could do what these ladies were doing but better...so she started her stained glass business and I dusted off my sewing machine! The next summer we did a few street fairs together and had a blast...haven't looked back since.
What exactly does Island Girl Bags entail?
I like to think that Island Girl Bags is more of a state of mind...eclectic, carefree, lazy days, endless sunshine...I think my bags and accessories reflect that!
What advice would you give other female entrepreneurs?
Go for it! You have nothing to lose. Networking is huge, join a local women's group. Women
love to help other women!
What are 3 things people don't know about you?
1)I'm a lover of all sports!
2)I hate to clean, but I know it makes my husband very happy when the house
is spotless so I do it anyways! ARGGGG!
3)I say yes to everything, which isn't a very good thing. Sometimes I just need to learn to say NO!!

FAB FRIDAY - Holiday Decorating

**Funny Friday**
It all started with a bachelorette party in Miami and a pull out sofa bed! This is where I truly believed the "Funny Club" originated! Myself and two other extremely funny girls formed a bond that weekend that began with hiding a Papa John's pizza box, so when we got home from the club, we would have pizza as a late night snack. You may be thinking "WHO DOES THAT"...well we do and it does not surprise me :)
Once we got back from Miami, the funny club continued to be funny and we added a new member. He is probably one of the funniest guys I ever met! At this point, people wanted to be in the "funny club" but we told that not to try. If you truly were funny, we would recognize this (haha)! The "funny club" may just be somewhat of a joke, but we truly do have fun when we are together and I truly cherish those laughs.
I know that most of you have no clue what I am talking about but the moral around this is to always laugh. Life can be so demanding & stressful that sometimes you just need to stop and have a good laugh!
HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY :)

Speedy BFF!!
So my best friend Amy is running in the Philadelphia Marathon on Sunday! I AM SO EXCITED FOR HER and give her and all other runners a ton of credit for being so dedicated and have the willpower to train. Spending months running almost EVERYDAY personally gives me anxiety, but has to be done to be prepared for the race. Amy has set a goal for herself and will achieve that goal on Sunday!! GO BFF!!

Hal Higdon's website is a great tool for anyone training for a race!
Below is a sample from his website:
For Novice runners--those who never have run before--this may mean getting into some semblance of shape so that they can begin my 18-week marathon training program. For those of you who have been running several years, Week 1, which is climaxed by a 6-mile long run on the weekend may not seem that tough, but it's like Mount Everest for those who have never run before. This Spring Training program will give novice runners a chance to gradually raise their fitness level so they can begin that first week of training with some chance of success.
Advanced runners often have a different problem. They've run a bunch of marathons and other races at different distances, and they want to improve their performances, not merely in the marathon, but in other distances they run frequently, like the 5-K, 8-K or 10-K. These advanced schedules will tell them how to do just that, showing how to mix various forms of speedwork (interval training, tempo runs, hills, fartlek) into their training week. They also get a chance to race frequently (5 times in fact) with goal 5-K and 10-K races in the last few weeks.
The Intermediate runners fall somewhere in between. These are runners who probably have been running several years, may have run one or two marathons, have faithfully trained through the winter, maintaining a certain mileage base, and now they want to build on that base. They want to continue to maintain that fitness level--perhaps improve on it slightly--so they can start marathon training in better shape than before. The 12-week Intermediate schedule offers some speedwork and some racing and should provide what they want.

FRIDAY FAB -- HEATED YOGA
BUT THEY ARE BACK!!!!
Now I am forced to get back into some kind of routine right in the middle of the holidays, which means yummy food, plus all the traveling doesn't help! HOW AM I GOING TO DO THIS?
Well I have decided HEATED YOGA is the way to go. I love the way it makes me feel. My body seems slimmer and longer, which I never felt from running.
When I did heated yoga a few years ago, I stuck to the below two classes. They are a little different from each other, which keeps it interesting. The Vinyasa class is a little repetitive, so I tend to do that one less.
Stationary Sequence —A full body sequence of postures for beginners to advanced practitioners. Postures promote strength and flexibility while fostering deeper levels of concentration.
Vinyasa —- This class takes the principles taught in the Stationary Sequence into a dynamic flow using the breath to link postures. Increase your lung capacity and mental alertness through yogic breathing while tapping into your ability to calm the body, mind, and emotions. A physically challenging and spiritually fulfilling class.
I just tried a new class that focuses on the core, which is what I desperately need. I do not want people to think I have a bun in the oven (yet!).
Core Awakening - This is a 60 minute class that will focus on Core based movements in four different planes of motion. You will focus on toning and strengthening from the Core and mindfully moving from that awareness. You will experience uplifting music, sound therapeutic alignment principles and receive heart-felt inspiration.
If you have not tried heated yoga, it is definitely worth trying. Make sure to bring a yoga mat, water, sweat towel and a peaceful mind :)
