Adventures of being a new author....

I just wrote my first children's book "Princess Jewels: The Glitter Ball". I am having such a hard time deciding if I want to go with a traditional publisher or self-publish. I read a lot of info and opinions on both! I am new with this so I am trying to be very cautious and ask a lot of questions!

I truly think this book and hopefully series of books will be a success!

Any advice and opinions are greatly appreciated!

My Engagement Story

My family has been going through a rough time, so I thought I would write about something happy... MY ENGAGEMENT. My BFF just got engaged, so I am in the wedding spirit.

I had been dating my now husband for about 6 years when I had to go to London for work for 2 months. Long hours, homesick, living in a shack of an apartment...I was miserable. We planned for him to come out to visit about a month into my trip. My great-grandmother is from Scotland, so we thought we would take a trip up there. To much surprise, he did most of the planning for this trip. I just assumed it was because he knew I was so busy. That Friday we took a train to Edinburgh. We slept in a decent side hotel room that night. Saturday morning we woke up early to take a train to see a castle. Right before we were about to leave, he goes "pack your stuff up". I kept saying "why" and he said "it is a surprise...don't keep asking me either". We had a great day exploring Scotland! We got back to the hotel, hopped in a cab and drove for about 30 min. We were getting further and further away from the city. I had a feeling we were going to a castle. Finally, we pulled up to the most amazing castle - Dalhousie Castle. This beautiful wedding was just ending. I was so excited to see another castle, let alone stay the night in one. As he is checking in, I am still shocked just looking around. I looked over and there was a chapel and I joked that we should just get married. We walk up a few flights of stairs and walk into this amazing room. I see champagne and roses, which I thought were standard in each room. I start unpacking and am chatting up a storm. I turn around and he is on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was speechless (for once). After the shock wore off, I said "yes".

I couldn't asked for a better engagement. We just got married April 9th in the Dominican Republic :)

Who is ready for fall?

Kids are getting ready to go back to school and everyone is looking forward to some cool weather. I personally love fall! This is a time where you can run outside without almost collapsing from heat exhaustion. Football begins!! The countdown to Christmas starts. And much more!

The thing I am most excited about is to get some new fall clothes and shoes. I am in desperate need of some new boots and winter jackets. Below are some trends we are most likely going to see this fall:

Chiced up with fierce heels, thigh-high heights, and flashes of color, outdoorsy fall boots take on new terrain.

Take fall coats and capes to the max with pumped-up shapes, daring brights, and layers of sporty knits.

Yellow sandals trend....

Who would have thought yellow sandals would be a current trend! I think they really can make an outfit pop. Be careful on the shade of yellow you wear. The below link shows three separate outfits. If you notice Naomi Watts has a white dress on and paired with a darker, less bright shade of yellow. However, Britanny Snow has a metallic dress on and has paired with a bright yellow sandals, which look great!!!

I think a little bit of color can change the whole dynamic of an outfit! I am even liking the new trend to wear colored heels with your wedding dress.

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I have not really been keeping up with this blog, so I thought I would write something today. I am so glad it is Friday. This has been another long and stressful week at work. Plus, we are getting a new bathroom installed. I have so much to do to prepare for the Peach Festival in Middletown, DE. I would like to make a few more new pieces. I am also working on a rosary for my brother and two special necklaces for my two best friends!

Tonight I am heading to the Zac Brown Band concert! Should be a great time. Hoping the rain holds off. Looking forward to date night tomorrow. My husband has been so busy studying for his CPA, it will be nice to have a nice night out.

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Check out the COACH Poppy Project (details on my website) and the new jewelry I have added.
